What do you mean by Avoid a timing when timer 3 underflows to stop timer 3?

Latest Updated:08/09/2007

Question:

(Timer)  Please explain the precaution, "Avoid a timing when timer 3 underflows to stop timer 3". [2007/08/09]

Answer:

This is a precaution regarding using timer 3 for PWM output.
If stopping of timer 3 overlaps with timer underflow, a hazard may be generated in the PWM signal generated by timer 3. If you must overlap, consider carefully whether the generation of a hazard will cause any problems. When the PWM output function is not in use, overlapping will not cause any problems.
However, the generated underflow signal will set the timer 3 interrupt request flag (T3F) to 1. (#106682)
