Will there be no problem if TEI from SCI transmit though TE is not set to 1?

Latest Updated:12/18/2013

Question:

I get a transmit end interrupt (TEI) from the serial communication interface (SCI) even though the transmit enable (TE) bit is not set to 1.

Answer:

Before setting the transmit end interrupt enable bit (TEIE), check that the corresponding bit in the interrupt request enable register (IER) in the interrupt control unit (ICU) isn't set to 1. TEI interrupt uses level detection, so if the TEIE bit is set to 1 and interrupts are enabled by the ICU, a transmit end interrupt will be generated. Disable interrupts using the IER register and then set the TEIE bit.
